Cost: $10 (plus cost of drinks)

Other: Academy Format means build a deck with only Common, Starter, Virtual cards (i.e. cards with "C", "S", or "V" ONLY) as well as ANY missions, any Australian Biermeister card with collector's info "0TA28" onwards. At the event, each participant will also be provided the latest series of Australian Biermeister cards. These cards will already be affixed to backing cards, so no backing cards will be required. AUSTRALIAN BIERMEISTER TOURNAMENT RULES

FORMAT AND CARD POOL

The official format used is ACADEMY CONSTRUCTED (Commons, Starter cards and Virtual cards ONLY, plus any missions - NO "VP" cards allowed). Players may, in addition, use any Australian Biermeister card in their decks from collector's info 0 TA 28 onwards.

As such, the tournament is UNSANCTIONED, however the tournament will be run as normal, with tournament performance counting towards each player’s Dream Team points (if applicable). Final Australian Biermeister ranking, and hence Biermeister prizes, will be allocated according to each player's Australian Biermeister performance (non-drinkers score 0 points).

TIME

Four 60 minute rounds, with a 20 minute break between rounds to allow players to finish their Victory Beers. The 20 minute break will generally begin from the end of the last game to finish in a given round.

VICTORY BEERS AND BEER TOTAL

Full Win: 3 Standard Beers
Modified Win/True Tie: 2 Standard Beers
Loss/Modified Loss: 1 Standard Beer

***1 Standard Beer is a middy. Hence a pint is 2 Standard Beers. A Full Win, 3 VP, would be 3 middies, or 1 pint and 1 middy.***

ONLY beers consumed from gametext or Victory Beers count towards a player's Biermeister total. Standard beers will be determined just before the start of the event. In general, a standard beer will be one brand of full-strength beer and CANNOT be substituted for any other drink, including other brands of beer. Beer totals are tracked on each player’s score card. Once a player has had a beer, his or her opponent must notify the Biermeister Judge in order to have that beer recorded against the player’s beer tally.

NON-DRINKERS

We welcome EVERYONE to play, drinkers and non-drinkers alike. The Australian Biermeister is the premiere social event on the Australian Star Trek CCG calendar. Players who choose not to drink are free to participate and enjoy the occasion.

====================

ALL-NEW:  HALFMEISTER VARIANT RULES

Not all players are willing or able to compete in the full Australian Biermeister, however there is no reason they can't be part of the action!

The HALFMEISTER variant of the Australian Biermeister is a compromise to those players, giving them a chance to compete in the tournament both with cards and beer. The rules are the same as above. The only difference is the amount of beer.

VICTORY BEERS AND BEER TOTAL

Full Win: 1.5 Standard Beers
Modified Win/True Tie: 1 Standard Beer
Loss/Modified Loss: 0.5 Standard Beer

Beers consumed from gametext still count as 1 Standard Beer. All beer must be consumed at the table by both players.

There will be a prize for the Halfmeister champion alongside the Australian Biermeister champion. Consolation prizes to other Halfmeisters and non-drinking players will  be awarded based on availability.

GAMEPLAY NOTES

Player Personnel - The Player keyword, as found on personnel in this set preceded by the player's home city, has no built-in functionality. It is referenced to in the gameplay of various Australian Biermeister cards.

The Player keyword is treated much like the Commander keyword, that is, it is not technically a keyword on its own. The Player keyword must preceded by an Australian city that currently has an active player group (currently Brisbane, Perth, or Sydney) or the word, "Travelling", representative of those travelling from outside these areas, including international competitors.

References to Player personnel and the players participating in a game are differentiated by the context of the gametext. Player personnel are always referred to contextually as personnel having the characteristic of Player. Those participating in a game as players (that is, both you and your opponent) are referred to as per normal and do not share any common references with Player personnel to minimise confusion.

Drink a Beer Abilities - You cannot use gametext to drink a beer if you are still in the process of drinking beer(s) as a result of previous gameplay. "Had" a beer means you have completely consumed a beer.

SPECIAL RULES

The Australian Biermeister cards follow all the standard rules as the regular Star Trek CCG Second Edition game, with only one exception: all Australian Biermeister personnel are considered to have the printed species of "Human" (unless changed by gameplay).

USE OF AUSTRALIAN BIERMEISTER CARDS

These cards are exclusively for use at Australian Biermeister events. You may not use them at sanctioned Continuing Committee tournaments.

2011 AUSTRALIAN BIERMEISTER - SET HISTORY

This set of 22 cards was first produced and distributed at the 2011 Australian Biermeister Nationals at that year's Australian Continental Championships weekend. Each player was given a fixed pack of 27 cards which included multiple copies of certain cards for gameplay purposes. All 27 cards were non-foil, had the 2011 Australian Biermeister Championships logo, and special event text.

2012 AUSTRALIAN BIERMEISTER - SET HISTORY

This set of 9 cards was first produced and distributed at the 2012 Australian Biermeister Nationals at that year's Australian Continental Championships weekend. It was then distributed at the 2012 Australian Biermeister Worlds at the Worlds Championships weekend held in Sydney. All 9 cards were non-foil, had the 2012 Australian Continental Championships logo, and special event text. A limited foil distribution was produced for the Worlds event, however the total number of sets given out was no more than five.

2012 AUSTRALIAN BIERMEISTER PROMOS - SET HISTORY

27 copies of Peter Hill, Veteran Player were printed in foil and distributed at the 2012 Australian Biermeister Nationals to each participant. Remaining copies not used on the night were distributed in the event's prize support. This release of the card has the 2012 Australian Biermeister Championships logo and special event text. 27 copies of each of the two Worlds promos, Jeremy Commandeur, World Champion, and Kenneth Tufts, World Number One, were printed in foil and distributed at the 2012 Australian Biermeister Worlds to each participant. These cards also had the 2012 Australian Biermeister Championships logo and special event text. Remaining copies not used on the night were distributed in the event's prize support, and several were also provided to each Jeremy and Kenneth as a thank-you for their attendance and sportsmanship. A number of copies of Peter Hill with generic Australian Biermeister Championships logo and no event text were printed and distributed to people on the night of the Biermeister along with their 9-card sets.

2013 AUSTRALIAN BIERMEISTER PROMOS - SET HISTORY

This set was distributed at the 2013 Australian Biermeister Nationals at the 2013 Australian Continental Championships weekend held in Sydney. All 9 cards were non-foil, had the 2013 Australian Continental Championships logo, and special event text. A limited foil distribution was produced for prizes, however the total number of sets produced was three. 27 copies of Matthew Ting, Out of the Wilderness, were printed in foil and distributed at the 2013 Australian Biermeister Nationals to each participant. Remaining copies not used on the night were distributed in the event's prize support.

DESIGN NOTES

In general, each personnel's three skills and attribute sets were randomly assigned to players. Barring some special cases, which may have inherited from previous cards, or were set by gameplay, or special lore exceptions, none of them have any relation to the personnel card they are on.

Additional flavour text exists in the species box because of the lack of space on some cards for lore, particularly where special event text is used. So, as I point out in the gameplay notes above, each Player personnel in this set is considered of the species "Human".

Finally, just a reminder to all that these are merely dream cards (albeit very cool ones), privately designed for use at Australian Biermeister championship tournaments. Please do not add them to your regular Star Trek CCG Second Edition decks. Rocking up to an official CC tournament with a Biermeister deck and a six-pack will only result in the Judge kicking you out, and worse still, keeping the beer for himself and the rest of the players. :)

These cards are NOT produced or distributed by the Continuing Committee.
